ICM (International Christian Mission)
On 19.08.2014, the chairman of Bethel Community Centre Dato’ Jerald Gomez and the president of ICM Edwin Marsden, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to officiate their partnership on charitable projects.
ICM is a non-profit non-governmental organization which has run many charitable projects in Malaysia and internationally including conducting training workshops on various life skills, assisting in recovery projects in many nations affected by natural disasters and conducting nationwide moral recovery programmes with the Philippines National Police. ICM teams visit orang asal villages, sending aid and relief to victims of the floods, typhoons and tsunamis in Terengganu, Philippines , and Indonesia.
BCC and ICM partnered together to give a legal seminar at an orang asal village in Mantin, where Dato’ Jerald Gomez, a lawyer by profession and senior partner at Messrs Jerald Gomez & Associates gave a talk on native land rights. Dato’ Jerald Gomez shared his expertise and the practical experience gained through the landmark Federal Court case of Sagong Tasi in 2002.
Also, Mr Rajaram also shared some simple saving methods that these villagers could adopt when dealing with their finances and other schemes available to them due to their bumiputera status.
BCC has adopted an orang asal village and is also partnering with ICM to replicate these seminars in other villages.
